Civil war in Burundi

The infamous 1994 war in Rwanda & Burundi wreaked havoc and decimated the entire social, structural, and financial systems. Survivors lost family members, homes, and income sources. Most displaced people who never got asylum elsewhere, some of whom got disabled from the war injuries, malnutrition and untreated illnesses remain vulnerable and at great risk. With political instability coupled with the Covid-19 pandemic, there are individuals who have been rendered destitute. They are crying for any type of help beginning from the basic food, clothing, and shelter.

• Soup Kitchen
  Provides prepared nutritious meals to feed the needy members who may otherwise be going hungry
• Adult Day Care
  Our Adult day care center typically provides social activities, meals and various health care services that can range from meals, medication management to physical therapy and entertainment.
• Shelter
  We provide both short & long term shelter. We provide a home for those members who are unlikely to graduate out of the program, like the very elderly or disabled without willing family members. The individuals should have space and facility that accord them with reasonable privacy and dignity.
• Health care
  Help to access basic health care needs plus assistance with medication, purchase, and administration.
• Clothing
  Providing decent and sufficient clothing items for each individual, appropriate for season and occasion.
• Social activities
  Organized local activities to stimulate, entertain and provide companionships, peer and social participation and integration.
• Community participation
  We endeavor to facilitate as much community participation and ownership as possible through locally sourcing labour and goods.
• Spiritual Provision
  Each individual will get the facilitation required to worship as per their choice. This is by helping with transportation to and from churches, mosques or temples. As well for the homebound, visitation by the clergy will be facilitated and encouraged.
• Self-sustaining activities
  The organization will be running a farm that will serve as a kitchen garden to provide most of the fresh produce to be utilized in meal preparation.
